Happy March!!
Our Boosterthon fundraising effort will come to a close on Thursday with our FUN RUN! My class needs to WEAR A RED T-SHIRT for the run. Please continue to have your child log into funrun.com each night to check the videos and their fundraising goals. Thank you to all the parents, families and friends who have donated to our school. The new technology is going to be wonderful and have a huge impact on learning here at Savannah Christian Prep!!
Our class is really working as a team: We have already raised over $29 per lap for the fun run!!!
Field Day is March 13! Please look for more information coming soon!
Please reinforce with your student that their job is to pay attention in the classroom. It is my expectation that each child will listen carefully to each lesson and do their best with their classwork. They should not be disturbing others, reading a book that is hidden in their lap or desk, trying to complete their homework or creating "art" with folded paper while we others are learning. We take a short break between each subject and the students move to get books or paper. We also have times when the lesson is completed and the students work INDEPENDENTLY on seat work to show mastery of the subject. When mastery is shown and all questions are answered, there will be time to find a book, take a Reading Counts test, go to the restroom, etc., but none of these things or the behaviors above are allowed during the lesson. Beginning this week, there will be consequences for not paying attention in class. It has been my experience that a lack of attention directly reflects in the student's grades, and the time has come for the children to take a more active role in their learning. Thanks for your support!!
Math - We continue with division. The first quiz is on Thursday, March 6.
Please help your children learn and practice the multiplication facts NIGHTLY! The only way to learn them is to memorize them. There is a cut off day for successfully completing the multiplication tests, and if that success is not reached, the children are recommended for summer tutoring. Memorization of the math facts is important for continued and confident learning in 4th and 5th grades.
Reading - Our story this week is Cocoa Ice. The test is on Friday.
Spelling - Week 23. The test is on Friday.
Social Studies - We continue with our study of ancient cultures. The test is on March 11.
Science - Our next unit is on the water cycle and weather. The test is on March 10.
Homework: (please check your child's assignment pad for updated information)
Monday - math workbook page 85, study math facts, study verse, spelling pick an S
Tuesday - math workbook page 86, study math facts, study verse, spelling pick a T
