Our field trip to Oatland Island Education Center is on Thursday, Feb. 6. The program runs from 10:00 - 12:30 and we will eat lunch on the picnic tables, weather permitting. Please be sure to send a sack lunch, with a drink, and dress your child appropriately for the bus ride and weather. This program happens in their classroom and at the homestead so while parents are welcome, please no siblings or strollers. Thanks! Parents are welcome to pick up the children after the completion of the program.
Georgia Day is Friday, February 7!! The children are urged to dress in colonial or Native American costumes. We do not allow weapons of any kind, even toys. The students need to bring a sack lunch and drink, which we will eat in the classroom. We still need volunteers to work part or all day. We are making painted pillows in our class, so anyone comfortable with a needle and thread is especially welcome!!
The GEORGIA LANDMARK POSTER IS DUE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3! The information was due Friday and we will begin our rough drafts with the information sheet on Monday.
The blanket collection for the elderly will continue through Wednesday, Feb. 5.
Students in 3rd-5th grade who signed up for COOKING will be interested to know that an extra day has been added to the schedule to make up for our storm last week. The dates are 2/11, 2/18, 2/25, and 3/11.
Math - Our chapter 5 test is on Monday. PLEASE STUDY THE MULTIPLICATION FACTS!!! We take a new fact each week and the students who do not do well will take those tests each Tuesday until they pass them. Flash cards, practice TIMED tests and verbal practice have all proven to be very helpful to students who struggle with memorizing the facts.
Language - We continue with dictionary and word usage.
Reading - We will not have a new story this week. We will continue with our Ramona, Age 8 novel study.
Spelling - no new words this week!
